Style Watch: Printed Suits

runway-red-carpet-real-way-prada-nanette-lepore-warehouse-printed-suit

The printed suit is everywhere this season. Wear the blazer and pants together or separate and create many different looks! However, there are a few things to keep in mind when putting together a printed outfit to prevent looking like bad gift wrap.

The Printed Suit Styling Rules:

  1. Make sure the pants are fitted. This shouldn’t be too hard to stick by, since most printed pants in stores now are cut similarly.
  2. Choose a soft and sophisticated blouse in a solid neutral color to pair with the pants.
  3. Make sure the jacket fits well but isn’t too tight. It’s best to have a little room to move around.
  4. Keep accessories to a bare minimum and hair pulled back and out of the way. You want to give off a polished finish that offsets the wilder print of the suit.
  5. That goes for shoes and clutches as well, keep it really simple.

But absolutely, under no circumstances, forget to wear heels. OK, ready to steal this look from the runway?

Style Watch: Fluted Hem

fluted-hem-trend

Stella McCartney skirt on Far Fetch, Etro Fall ’12 and DKNY Fall ’12 on Elle.com

Over the course of the last couple of season hems of skirts have been ever changing.  Top three skirt trends are Maxi Skirts, High-low hems and mid-length skirts.  The next style to make a wave is the ultra girly, ultra dainty trumpet hem. Its also know was the fluted hem or drop-peplum. This flirtatious style adds a feminine vibe to a skirt or dress. We see this look being perfect paired with a blazer and tights for a casual workplace or worn bare legged for a fun night out.

Style Watch: Oxblood for Fall

trend-watch-fall-oxblood

Declaring oxblood as a fall trend might not seem groundbreaking or particularly new as it is more of a recurring, seasonal theme that comes back year after year just like leather, tweed, mustard and jewel tones. However, some classic fall trends seem to be favored more than others each year and for 2012 we place our bets on oxblood to be the most notable trend. Sure, “oxblood” might not sound quite as appealing as “bubblegum pink” for instance, but don’t let the name scare you off this rich dark berry hue that flatters every skin tone, is considered to have a rather mystic vibe yet is a classic and totally work-appropriate color. In order to spread the oxblood trend, we’ve compiled a list with a few of our favorite oxblood-colored items, fashion- and beauty-wise.

P.S.: While you’re at it, make sure to check out more fabulous yet affordable oxblood items at Topshopls and ASOSls.

It seems like colorblocking is on trend that is here to stay. Designers have figured out a new way to spice up the trend with contrasting sleeves.

Whether they’re adorning a denim jacket, trench coat, dress, or blouse, contrasting sleeves will… well, make your top pop. I think the look is great and fun… I recently was blessed with  a contrasting sleeve pieces from a designer and once the weather is right… I will be sharing the outfit with you!
