Style Watch: Fluted Hem

Stella McCartney skirt on Far Fetch, Etro Fall ’12 and DKNY Fall ’12 on Elle.com

Over the course of the last couple of season hems of skirts have been ever changing.  Top three skirt trends are Maxi Skirts, High-low hems and mid-length skirts.  The next style to make a wave is the ultra girly, ultra dainty trumpet hem. Its also know was the fluted hem or drop-peplum. This flirtatious style adds a feminine vibe to a skirt or dress. We see this look being perfect paired with a blazer and tights for a casual workplace or worn bare legged for a fun night out.

Outfit Of The Day: High Waisted Skirt

Here a one of my OOTD from Memorial Weekend. It is a high wasted  blue skirt, we a mustard colored tube top and a tied white shirt. It was a simple outfit that was comfy and cute! I got all these items from TJMAXX.

Here the Makeup look I wore with the outfit (3 part makeup tutorial commmmming for this look!):

Style Watch: High Low Hems

BCBG Max Azria bodice dress, $118, C C California rouched dress, $88, BCBGeneration pleated strapless dress, $138 ,GUESS by Marciano sheer skirt, $128 Skirt, $50
Forever 21 lightweight skirt, $20 Forever 21 lightweight skirt, $20

The high-low hem — shorter in front, longer in the back — has been riding a wave of popularity the past few seasons. I love the trend and just found cute dress from H&M that incorporates this trend( will share once I wear it!).

The style lends itself to the easier fit of warm-weather pieces. With spring runway shows featuring everything from basic black halter dresses to gauzy tops, it’s time to add this trendy shape to summer wardrobes.

Last year’s ankle-grazing maxi dresses and skirts have evolved to include cuts that start at the knee or higher in front and drape down to the ankle for a silhouette that swings. This trend can even be rocking in shirts!

Casul Fun Outfit

Here a causal relaxed look I created for fun spring day something simple but still fun and sexy!

Women’s Month- Mary Quant

When a young upstart British designer named Mary Quant opened her boutique Bazaar in 1955 on King’s Road (a mod and rocker hangout), she was poised to spearhead a fashion revolution. Without any real training in fashion, but with a finger on the pulse of everyday fashion of the street, she represented a distinctive breakaway in fashion. She began to sell clothes that reflected the ideas of the day’s youth and that had nothing to do with established Paris fashion houses (Lehnert 2000). When she raised the hemline of her skirts in 1965 to several inches above the knee, the iconic miniskirt was born. Named after her favorite car, the Mini, the miniskirt was an instant success and epitomized the spirit of London in the mid-60s: free, energetic, youthful, revolutionary, and unconventional (Diamond and Diamond 2006)
